I had the opportunity to be part of two brainstorming sessions this month for two completely different ministries. The first one was hard because I am used to working with the different parts and coming up with categories and this process starts with the categories and brainstorms the parts.
I have had a few meetings with missionaries this month. Not necessarily about missionary training or cultural items, but other struggles that they notice are affecting them in ministry.
Missionaries have a World Race (GAP) team of 24 with them for 2 months. I was asked to conduct discipleship once a week for eight weeks. I asked Michelle and Rachel to join me in the first three classes (Missionary Orientation, Change & Transition, and Cultural Adjustment). We had to cancel Cultural Adjustment due to the political situation.

I asked Kjell to provide a training for our member care team and some others to help us with our presentations of workshops and our understanding of adult learners. He covered strong presentation skills, such as effective body language, use of A/V, and logistics; understanding adult learners - because teaching an adult (andragogy) is very different than teaching kids (pedagogy); planning and organizational mindset that views presentations from the end and work to the beginning; and practical strategies in handling workshops that don't go according to plan (e.g., talkative participants, equipment failure, and external noise).
